What twelve weeks of an Orton-Gillingham tutoring program looks like

Twelve weeks is long enough for something to actually change, and short enough that you’re not signing up for a year of the unknown. We start by setting two or three specific goals. Then provide twenty-four sessions of explicit, sequential, multisensory instruction. You’ll receive a written progress report explaining how your child is progressing.

 

Appropriate for older students

Most reading programs are designed for young children and then handed to a teenager. That doesn’t work, and teenagers know it immediately. for that reason the materials and instruction that I use are crafted for the age of the student. The pace is adjusted to each student.  Rules are always explained rather than drilled blindly.

 

What’s included

Goal setting at the start. Twenty-four one-to-one sessions, twice weekly. All lesson planning and materials. Short home practice assignments when appropriate. A written progress report at week twelve documenting skills mastered and the next set of targets.

 

About the instruction

Sessions are taught by Tracy Young, an Orton-Gillingham trained and ALTA-certified educational therapist.

Paying with ESA funds

This program is priced and structured to fit a single quarterly ESA disbursement. If you’re in a state with an education savings account, you may be able to fund this term with those dollars. Reach out through the contact page and I’ll tell you what your program needs from me.

2. Why 12 weeks? It’s the shortest period over which structured literacy gains show up reliably.
3. Can I pay with ESA funds? In several states you can. If you’re not sure, get in touch so I can confirm.
4. What if my child need longer?  Most do.  Consider the 24-week intensive program.
5. Can I choose the days? Yes. We’ll set up a consistent weekly schedule so it becomes routine.
6. What if we miss a session?  Tutoring sessions can be rescheduled with 24 hours notice.
7. What does my child need? A quiet space, internet connection, a device with a camera, a document camera, paper, pencil.  I provide the rest.
