Why College Board SAT accommodations requests get denied
Testing organizations are generally looking for three things. A documented disability. Evidence that it affects your child’s ability to take the test, and a record showing the accommodation has been used.
Families almost always have the first one. They’re often shaky on the second. Many discover the third one in the spring of junior year, when there’s no time left.
What we do together
I review your existing evaluation and school records against the published standard, and explain in plain English where weaknesses exist for your request. If there’s no documentation plan, we look at what your child is informally getting and how to get it formally documented. If the impact isn’t clearly stated, we look at what evidence would show it.
You get a submission timeline that works backward from your target test date, so nothing gets filed in a panic. And two consultation calls, one at the start and one before you submit.
What this is and isn’t
This is an educational consultation to explain how IEP, 504 and testing accommodation plans work. It’s not legal advice, and it doesn’t include attending meetings with you.
This package organizes documentation your family already has. It does not obtain evaluations, influence a diagnosis, or help with a request that the underlying evidence doesn’t support. If the evidence isn’t there, I’ll tell you that on the first call and refund the difference. That’s the whole basis of doing this work honestly.
Start earlier than you think
The best time to do this is ninth or tenth grade, while there’s still time to build a record. The worst time is spring of senior year. If you’re reading this in ninth grade, you’re early in the right spot.
What you need before booking
An existing evaluation from a qualified professional, and either an existing school plan or a documented history of support.

My child has a diagnosis but no 504 plan. Is that a problem? Often yes, and it’s the most common reason for denial. That’s exactly what this package addresses.

We were already denied. Can you help? Possibly. We’ll look at the denial letter, identify which requirement failed, and build the appeal around that information.

Do you guarantee approval? Absolutely NOT! Be cautious of anyone who does. What I can do is make sure your request is comprehensive, accurate, and submitted on time.
